Occupy Portland Open House 1/13/12

A great turnout  for Occupy Portland’s first open house in their new home at St. Francis Church in SE Portland.

First some photos from OP’s room

the Portland Occupier is the online ‘newspaper’ of OP. They are always open to getting submissions. Check them out at you can find info on how to send submissions by clicking Get Involved

Someone came to tell us it’s time to move to the dining room for the main event. He in a the blue and white stripes with an arm up. He is being ‘mic checked.’ the photo on the right is the signs for the breakout groups which will be meeting about 7:30

The rest of the photos were taken in St Francis’ dining room where the open house was held for reasons of space. All along one side of the room were tables from various OP committees and allied groups.

the screen was used for various images before the program, later they showed a video that documented the beginning of OWS and then Portland and included some pretty dumb journalists saying dumb things.

Unsettled is a pre-Occupy group working with Occupy on foreclosures and other housing issues

Occu-pies dominate the buffet table.  A panel followed the welcome from the church and proceeded the breakout into workshops and committees

Great turnout and friendly as could be, excellent energy as I’ve come to expect from Occupiers and their friends

You can go to and click calendar to find out what’s up or see the Portland Occupier for news anytime. Drop by the church on 11th and Oak and visit. Someone will direct you to their room in the former St Francis School.
